Shoulder Pain in Atlanta Georgia

Chiropractic care is a profession dedicated to the non-surgical treatment of disorders of the nervous system or musculoskeletal system.  If you are having pain in your shoulders and reside in Atlanta, you have an important resource in Dr. Latrice Lawrence of H2H Wellness Centers.

Shoulder pain is common and many conditions can be linked to overuse or injuries.  The actual cause of the pain can be difficult to self-diagnose other than where the patient feels pain or discomfort.  In many cases, pain may be felt at one location of the arm but the actual cause or origin may be at another part of the body.

Pain from recent injuries or recurring injuries may be obvious to patients but injuries caused by repetitive motion at home or work may be less obvious to self-diagnose.  Pain caused from repetitive motion can develop slowly making self-diagnosis difficult. For these reasons, an examination by an experienced and trained Chiropractor is necessary to identify the reason for the pain and the best treatment to reduce or eliminate the cause of the pain, including safe measures to reduce future occurrences.

Pain in the shoulder can be intermittent or consistent.  Many patients will attribute shoulder pain to a bad night’s sleep or old age.  Problems in the shoulder can be easily treated but left untreated can lead to lifelong problems and other painful conditions.

What causes shoulder pain?

Most shoulder pains can be contributed to conditions, such as:

  • Neck pain
  • Back pain
  • Bursitis
  • Arthritis
  • Tendonitis
  • Reduced motion
  • Rotator cuff injuries
  • Frozen shoulder

Misalignment (subluxations) of the vertebrae in the neck are responsible for the vast majority of chronic pains that are a result of the misalignment causing nerve damage or discomfort. Misalignments that cause nerve damage or discomfort in the shoulders may originate from the neck or upper back causing pain, numbness, tingling or soreness into the arms, as a result.

Injuries to the spine or connective tissues can create the pain of the arms. A trained Chiropractor can identify the origin and a treatment plan to correct the cause of the pain.

Chiropractic Treatment for Shoulder pain

A thorough examination by a Chiropractor can identify the causes of your shoulder pain.  Your Chiropractor will check for misalignments by examining the body or request x-rays to identify the extent of an injury or pain. During the examination, the Chiropractor will review your past medical history, family medical history, activities of daily living, trauma history (injuries by slips, falls or accidents), occupation and recent activities to ascertain a comprehensive picture of your physical health. Orthopedic tests may also be performed to help determine a diagnosis.

Treatment plans for shoulder pains may be as simple as adjustments of the spine or extremities, kensiotaping, therapeutic ultrasound, electrical nerve stimulation and strengthening exercises to prevent future injuries and pain.
